This was the actual Press Car used to launch the new generation of Proteus C-Types in 2011, and as such it features in the original Proteus Brochure (included in the history file). It was also featured in the leading UK classic car magazine Octane (copy also comes with the car) at the time of the launch.

In short this is the ultimate Jaguar C type recreation: a factory built Proteus ‘Evolution’ C.

The car incorporates the latest tubular chassis giving a excellent rigidity and no compromise on maintaining the power to weight ratio. The car is bodied using all aluminium panels, doors, bonnet and boot recreating the sensuous curves of the 1951 Le Mans winning classic. The aerodynamic driven shape is arguably the most beautiful bodied 1950’s race car.

Under the bonnet, a 4.2 double overhead cam straight six, one of the most reliable engines from the Jaguar marque. Subject to a £16,000 strip down and rebuild by CKL, including further upgrades, it is fitted with Lynx fuel injection, electronic ignition and free flowing exhaust. This is a powerful car with a beautiful exhaust note, with 0-60 in under 6 seconds and 265bhp. An ECU enables the car to be remapped for fast road or track use but it’s equally happy pottering round town in a more sedate manner and driving in traffic. The cars 5 speed gear box and limited lightweight differential is a real pleasures with effortless short gear changes. The car is fitted with a new oil cooler, new alternator along with D type breather pipes and catch tank from the polished cam covers. Racing brake pads couple to Wilwood callipers.

The car is finished in metallic silver, the ultimate complement to the rich red leathered interior. Classic sports leather bucket seats authenticate the interior all by Muirs and Son of Scotland. New bespoke/special order, aero style buckled Willian’s harnesses enhance the cockpit and provided a comfortable and reassuring fit.

The car has a wrap around Perspex screen complemented by authentic Brooklands screens, Le Mans filler cap, 72 spoke painted wire wheels including Jaguar spinners and spare wheel all unmarked. Recent Proteus upgrade on electrical and switches all as latest cars. Mota Lita wood rim steering wheel with genuine period Jaguar badge, leathered door cubbies, stainless steel side exhaust, full disabling alarm, traffic master anti theft tracker, mohair cock pit cover, full British racing green custom fitted cover with jaguar motif.

This is unquestionable one one of the finest quality C types available. A car we sold to the current owner two years ago. and it has been superbly maintained, with no expense spared to keep it that way. The car has used the car on number of rallies and events and shows such as London to Brighton where it has been regularly photographed and featured on web sites and in newspapers like the Telegraph.
